Choosing the right size Orbea Kimu is primarily about your child’s height rather than their age. Children of the same age can vary considerably in height, so we recommend using Orbea’s rider-height guidance as your starting point.

Orbea Kimu 16 – 94–115 cm
The Kimu 16 is designed for smaller riders approximately 94-115 cm tall. Its 16-inch wheels, low frame and child-specific components make it the starting point in the Kimu range.
The Kimu 16 also includes a second, longer seatpost, helping the bike adapt as your child grows.

Orbea Kimu 20 – 108–128 cm
Orbea recommends the Kimu 20 for children approximately 108–128 cm tall, or roughly 5-8 years old.
Both the Kimu 20 H10 and Kimu 20 H20 use 20-inch wheels and share the same recommended rider-height range, so the choice between them should be based on specification rather than size.

Orbea Kimu 24 – 121–138 cm
The Kimu 24 is recommended for riders approximately 121–138 cm tall, typically around 7-10 years old.
This is the broadest part of the Kimu range, with H20, H10 and H10 TR models available. All use 24-inch wheels and are designed around the same rider-height range, while the different specifications allow you to choose a bike to suit the child’s riding and experience.

Orbea Kimu 27 – 135–149 cm
The Kimu 27 is designed for taller young riders approximately 135–149 cm tall, typically around 9-12 years old.
Its 27-inch wheels are paired with geometry designed specifically for younger riders, giving growing mountain bikers the benefits of larger wheels without simply putting them onto an adult-sized mountain bike.

Between two Kimu sizes?
There is deliberate overlap between Orbea’s recommended height ranges. For example, a child who is 125 cm tall falls within both the Kimu 20 and Kimu 24 recommendations.
Height is therefore a starting point rather than the only consideration. Riding confidence, proportions and experience should also be considered. A less confident rider may feel more comfortable and in control on the smaller option, while a confident rider approaching the upper end of one size range may be ready for the larger wheel size.
